International Sector Analyst, Proprietary Research

ABOUT PROPRIETARY RESEARCH

 On our proprietary research team—Market Intelligence—you’ll partner with our investment professionals and Compliance team to uncover insights about companies, industries, and the broader economy through deep fundamental research and applying data science and engineering techniques to alternative data sets. You’ll work alongside a talented team with diverse skills, backgrounds, and perspectives. Our industry researchers, product managers, and data scientists and engineers work together to build compliant research products that answer the questions our investment professionals care about most. We look for other bright, motivated, and collaborative people to join our team and grow with us—a majority of the leaders in our group were promoted from within. 


What you’ll do

ROLE SUMMARY

As an International Sector Analyst on the Proprietary Research team, you will provide industry context and business fundamentals to our team of data scientists and engineers and deliver synthesized insights to our investment professionals as you partner with them on their research needs. The work is ever evolving, affording opportunities to tackle new challenges alongside research teammates from diverse backgrounds. Specifically, you will gain exposure and knowledge to:

  • Develop subject-matter expertise on the key themes and key performance indicators (KPIs) that drive the industries and companies in your coverage
  • Compose research reports that synthesize research findings on behalf of our investment professionals
  • Interact directly with our investment professionals, learning the discretionary investment process and helping drive more informed investment decisions
  • Collaborate with our global proprietary research teams to source and extract the most value out of new and existing data assets

What’s required

We’re looking for someone with a thorough understanding and appreciation for the research process, who values collaboration and challenging work. Specifically, you will need:

  • An understanding of, or passion for, navigating equity markets, with exposure to the Greater China market
  • 2-5 years of equity/investment research experience, or experience leveraging data analysis as part of fundamental research process for business, public policy, finance, engineering, applied sciences, or other quantitative fields
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (written and spoken) to communicate effectively with different stakeholders
  • Proficiency with technical coding/programming (SQL, Python)
  • Elevated business intuition and an innate ability to structure ambiguous problems and take action to solve them
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and project management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to the highest ethical standards

The successful candidate may be offered the opportunity to relocate to Hong Kong in the future, subject to team needs, and candidate profile.
